Serenity - Two Horses Grazing - 8"x8"

This is a personal painting - small - only 8"x8" created for my mother. It captures my mom's new mare (in white) peaceful and happy with my Dad's horse after only two days of knowing each other. And that... makes me smile.

The landscape is imaginary - a combination of green Vermont Fields and mountains, with the hint of an Adirondack fairway I remember and the open expanse of the west. All landscapes my family knows. 

I found the scale awkward at first, but in doing something abstractly representational it was perfect and charming and sweet upon completion.
